Altegra Health Manager to Head Alaska AHIMA Association
MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (January 20, 2015) – Janie Batres, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, Manager, Facility Coding Services, Altegra Health, has begun a one-year term as president of the Alaska Health Information Management Association (AKHIMA). This leadership role follows several years of increasingly responsible board and committee roles for the state organization, an affiliate of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Batres is looking forward to focusing her deep industry experience and knowledge to guide current and future professionals. “In my day-to-day job at Altegra Health, I see firsthand how health information management continues to be challenged with new and changing regulations and legislation,” Batres said. “My goals for the coming year include supporting my fellow AKHIMA members as well as making an impact on the profession.”
Batres joined Altegra Health in December 2014. She has more than 14 years of experience within health information management (HIM), including consulting and nine years of teaching in-house and online education courses in Health Information/Allied Health. She is currently working towards a master’s degree in health informatics to add to her bachelor’s degree in health informatics administration – both earned from University of Cincinnati.
